Lyrics

WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE (ABOUT THE SOUTH)
Rick Demers

It’s another bundle up; hunker down, cold grey day
Freezing rain and biting wind are telling me get away
While the path of least resistance points to someplace warm
These days I’m living life from storm to storm

There’s a corn field on my left and a graveyard on my right
I’m on the road between them, stalled and on thin ice
Where the bitter cold and dirty snow make it clear to me
That I’m miles away from where I need to be

What’s not to like about the south when you’re coming from the cold
What’s not to like about the south when life up north is getting old
Those steamy days and sultry nights, ….. just feel so right…
OH ! What’s not to like about the south…!!!!

Walking backwards in the wind, my collar up and wearing thin
Curse the cars that pass me by, I flag‘em down they wave goodbye
Out here dying by degrees ,this winter scene is killing me….

There’s a seaside senorita wanting me to meet her down in Tampa Bay
We had ourselves a weekend, drenched in Margaritas there last May
It warms me to remember our time spent ‘neath the sun
Where the seabirds glide and the snowbirds have their fun

What’s not to like about the south when you’re coming from the cold
What’s not to like about the South when life up north is getting old
Those steamy days and sultry nights, ….. just feel so right…
OH ! What’s not to like about the south…
OH ! What’s not to like about the south…
OH ! What’s not to like about the south… what’s not to like about , what’s not to like about the south
